How to Use the Calculator

  1. Enter hardness in gpg and iron in ppm (if present).
  2. The calculator compensates iron (1 ppm ≈ 4 gpg) and totals hardness.
  3. Adjust people/fixtures to reflect peak demand and daily usage.

Quick Sizing Tip

Most homes use a 45,000 grain single-tank or twin-tank system. Twin-tank softeners alternate tanks for 24/7 soft water and less salt/water use.
